THE SPACE
Empowerment, Inspiration, and Community
New York city is known for being a city that is progressive, drawing diversity from all over the world to revel in its artistry. The New York music scene is one that has inspired millions and raised many songwriters including, The Ramones, Suzanne Vega, Philip Glass, Madonna, Billy Joel, The Strokes, New York Dolls, Lou Reed, Simon & Garfunkel, Blondie, and Norah Jones, not to mention many untapped artists who have yet to be heard. What we are committed to is providing an opportunity for these artists to flourish in our community and be heard around the world.
Tired of seeing brilliant songwriters fade into the obscurity of the local scene, songwriter and artist Tiffany Randol envisioned a haven for songwriters to flourish in creativity and resources. With advisement from many professionals and artists in the industry, The Space has developed into a strong proposal for a much needed facility supporting the training and development for songwriters. BJ Ramone came on board June ‘07 and the team is currently in the process of developing the first stage of The Space. This first project will be a 2-3 week Residency Program, where ten songwriters will be selected to collectively write, record, and perform a ten song collaborative album about “Freedom and Love”. The Space Residency is expected to take place in June 2008.
